About the Artwork
Almost Now captures a solitary swimmer suspended within an expanse of shifting water, where the boundary between figure, light and landscape begins to dissolve.
Built slowly through layers of oil paint and oil stick, the surface moves between translucent washes and loose, gestural marks. Greens, turquoise and deep blue overlap and emerge through one another, while flashes of pale light suggest the constant movement of water beneath the sun.
